Emily is a recent graduate from the Master of Research degree in Marine Biology from the University of Plymouth. In between her undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, Emily worked as a research intern for the International Pole and Line Foundation (IPNLF) looking into the plastic ghost gear produced from tropical tuna fisheries. More recently, Emily worked as a consultant for IPNLF on the new traceability website. Emily is passionate about environmental conservation efforts in the ocean, but also understands the social pressures associated with coastal fisheries, so is excited to join the Key Traceability team and working on these two initiatives.
Emily is situated in Southampton and loves being by/in/on the sea, whether that be rockpooling, diving or surfing! She also cannot wait to get back to doing a bit of travelling and seeing more of the world.
ChiChun (Daniel) Yang is based in Kaohsiung, Taiwan and recently joined Key Traceability as a consultant. Daniel has a BBA in International Tourism Management from Tamkang University in Taiwan. Daniel has over six years experience in various roles in sales across different industries. Daniel is specialised in new business development and existing key accounts management. Daniel is also a fluent Taiwanese/Mandarin speaker. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, watching movies and going to bars.
Charles Horsnell is a Consultant at Key Traceability with a background in Environmental Science, having specific knowledge in fisheries and aquaculture food systems. Charles has experience in the low value fisheries sector in South-East Asia through projects conducting Life Cycle Assessments and Product Chain Organisation Assessments on the Vietnamese fishmeal industry, along with Malaysian surimi and aquaculture industries.
Currently Charles is the coordinator for Fishery Improvement Projects in both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans working with a variety of stakeholders, and contributes to Key Traceability’s social workload when beneficial. Charles also has a specific interest in small-scale fisheries.
Presently, Charles is based in sunny Adelaide, South Australia and enjoys bodysurfing and attempting to grow food in his backyard while listening to Angus and Julia Stone.
Tom is a Fisheries Consultant and FIP lead at Key Traceability with extensive knowledge of MSC, ASC and Marin Trust (Formerly IFFO RS) standards. Tom works on Fishery Improvement Projects around the world acting as the project lead to ensure fisheries meet certification by conducting preassessments, action plans and then implementing them. Tom has been working in this space for the past five years and his main area of work and interests are tropical tuna fisheries and other large pelagic species such as Mahi Mahi and Swordfish.
Tom is based in the UK and in his spare time enjoys rugby, music and food!
Kat Collinson has been working within the MSC assessment programme certifying both fisheries and Chain of Custody for the last nine years, Kat has joined the Key Traceability team to work primarily on Fishery Improvement Projects to help more fisheries reach MSC certification. Her main area of work and interest are tropical tuna fisheries, in particular how they are managed and bycatch mitigation. Kat wants to work with more companies to reach best practice with respect to bycatch management and overall long-term sustainability. She is also an ASC bivalve auditor and ISO lead auditor.
Kat is based in Southampton, England. In her spare time enjoys going to the gym, scuba diving and looking after her five pet ferrets.
Lia Hayman (BA), consultant at Key Traceability. Lia primarily manages the social operations, including global social audits, consultancy, and research projects for various clients. Lia has a bachelor’s degree in European Studies and International Relations and is a Social Systems Lead Auditor (SA8000). Lia has experience of social auditing on fishing vessels in Taiwan, Mauritius, and Ghana. Lia has worked on multiple research projects including working alongside European Transport Workers’ Federation and European Federation of Food, Agriculture and Tourism Trade Unions to set out the demands from the Trade Unions for reform of the EU Common Fisheries Policy (CFP).
Lia is based in Portsmouth, England and is also the Quality Manager at Key Traceability. In her spare time, Lia enjoys travelling and dining out.
Lauren Purton is a Consultant at Key Traceability. She has conducted social, traceability and IUU audits on fishing vessels and offices around the Pacific, Asia and West Africa. Lauren is a qualified Social Systems Lead Auditor (SA8000) and her work is currently focused on social projects within the tuna industry. Lauren developed a global auditing program to conduct social audits on fishing vessels around the world and has also developed vessel social policies and procedures for fishing companies. Lauren has conducted research and data analysis projects for clients, as well as internal reviews and quality assurance.
Lauren developed and implemented the company’s own ISO 9001 Quality Management System, achieving certification in March 2018.
Lauren is based in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and in her spare time she enjoys reading and watching the Belfast Giants play ice hockey.
Iain is a seafood consultant with extensive experience, having worked for authorities, NGOs and the private sector over an almost 20-year career in fisheries and aquaculture. Clientele include the MSC, ASC, MRAG, European Commission, FAO, Fairtrade and Sustainable Fisheries Partnership. His experience has included advising retailers and major brands on sustainability solutions, setting up and running FIPs, certifying and social accountability auditing.
Iain Pollard is a qualified social auditor (SA 8000) and has carried out over 300 audits including traceability, sustainability, IUU and social labour audits of fishing vessels, processing facilities and supply chain units. Particular countries of on-site experience include Ecuador, China, Vietnam, Thailand, Pacific Islands, Spain, Germany and the Yemen where Iain set up a tuna exporting company.
Iain has been appointed on a number of boards and committees including the Seafish Social Responsible Fisheries Scheme (RFS) technical working group (link) and Fishery Progress Social Advisory Committee (link).
Iain’s spare time is mostly taken up by his kids but when there’s an opportunity he likes running and kickboxing.
Duangdao (Noon) Masrungson is based in Kaohsiung, Taiwan and recently joined Key Traceability as a consultant. Noon has a Bachelors degree in Microbiology from Chiang Mai University in Thailand and also a Masters degree in Food Science & Technology and a MBA from Oregon, USA. In her spare time, she enjoys baking, running, and zumba dancing.
Ethan Parry is a Junior Consultant at Key Traceability. Ethan has a BA in Applied Linguistics (Mandarin Chinese) and an MA in Translation Studies. In addition, he has years of experience living and studying in China, which has equipped him with the ability to read, write and speak the language. Ethan is based in Portsmouth and enjoys skateboarding and cycling in his free time.
